The appeals are disposed of by settlement, with the appellants relinquishing the claim for enhancement and the State agreeing to pay compensation within eighteen months.
Summary
A large number of appellants filed first appeals against the State of Maharashtra seeking compensation for land acquisition, including a claim for enhancement for fruit‑bearing trees. The National Lok Adalat, presided over by Justice Shailesh P. Brahme, facilitated a settlement where the claimants waived their demand for enhancement. The State agreed to pay the agreed compensation within eighteen months, depositing the amount with the High Court. Any delay beyond the stipulated period will attract interest at 9% per annum. The appeals were therefore disposed of by settlement as recorded in Exhibit‑X.
