NATIONAL SECURITY AND GENERAL TRADE UNIONversusDILIP LAD

Decided

Holding

The Court allowed the amendment of the petition title to include the union as a co‑petitioner.

Summary

The petitioner, Dilip Lad, filed an interim application seeking to amend the title of his writ petition to add the National Security and General Trade Union as a co‑petitioner, asserting his role as its General Secretary. The application was served on the respondents, the State of Maharashtra and others, and no opposition was filed. The Court examined whether such an amendment to the petition’s title was permissible under procedural law. Finding no impediment and noting the lack of objection, the Court permitted the amendment, directing that it be effected within two weeks and that a copy of the amended petition be served on the respondents. The interim application was consequently disposed of, and the writ petition was listed for further hearing on 21 October 2026.
