The Court may correct a clerical mistake in the name of an amicus curiae without affecting the substantive proceedings.

Summary

In an interim application filed on 24 September 2026, Amicus Curiae Mr. Shrikrishna R. Ganbavale sought correction of his name as it appeared erroneously in the order dated 21 September 2026. The order mistakenly recorded his name as “Mr. Shrikant Ganbavale” in the appearance column and in paragraphs 2, 3, and 4. The Court examined whether a clerical error in the name of an amicus curiae could be rectified without reopening the substantive proceedings. Finding that the error was purely typographical and did not affect the merits of the case, the Court allowed the correction. The corrected order was to be uploaded with the proper spelling of the amicus curiae’s name. The application was therefore disposed of in favour of the petitioner.
