Bombay High Court

RITESH VILAS MARUversusSTATE OF MAHARASHTRA

Decided
Disposal
Disposed Off

Holding

The court held that it may reduce the surety amount, and ordered the bail condition to be modified to a Rs.15,000 surety.

Summary

The applicant, R. V. Maru, had been granted bail on 1 July 2025 on condition of furnishing a personal bond of Rs.25,000 with one or more solvent sureties. By April 2026, the applicant was unable to provide the surety for about eight months and sought a reduction of the surety amount. The State opposed the modification. The High Court, after considering the applicant's inability, reduced the surety requirement to Rs.15,000 while keeping the rest of the bail order unchanged. The court ordered the applicant to execute a personal bond of Rs.15,000 with appropriate sureties and disposed of the interim application accordingly.
