The court disposed of the applications, accepting the petitioner's offer to deposit 20% of the compensation amount within four weeks.
Summary
The petitioners, Pandi Devi Oil Private Limited, filed criminal revision applications seeking to deposit 20% of the compensation amount instead of the 25% ordered by the appellate court. The respondents objected, insisting that the original order required a 25% deposit within 90 days, which had already elapsed. Both sides presented arguments before Justice Shivkumar Dige. The judge noted that the petitioners were prepared to deposit the reduced 20% within four weeks. Considering this readiness, the court disposed of both revision applications, effectively accepting the petitioners' proposal. No further orders were made regarding the compensation.
Issues considered
- Whether the petitioner may be permitted to deposit 20% of the compensation amount instead of the 25% ordered by the appellate court after the 90‑day deadline has expired
- Whether the court should reject the petitioner's submission and enforce the original 25% deposit requirement
Subjects
