District Awardee Teachers awarded before 4 September 2018 are entitled to consideration for additional increments as per the 12 December 2000 Government Resolution.
Summary
The petitioners, a group of District Awardee Teachers, filed a writ petition challenging the failure to grant them additional salary increments that they claim are due under a Government Resolution dated 12 December 2000. The petitioners argued that, having been awarded their certificates before 4 September 2018, they are entitled to the increments. The Court observed that the matter had already been addressed in a prior order (Writ Petition No. 3032 of 2025) which laid down the applicable legal position. Accordingly, the Court directed Respondent No.6 to verify the petitioners' status as District Awardee Teachers and to process their cases for the additional increments within six months of receiving the order. The petition was therefore disposed of with these specific directions.
Issues considered
- Whether District Awardee Teachers who received their certificates before 4 September 2018 are eligible for additional increments under the Government Resolution dated 12 December 2000.
- Whether Respondent No.6 is obligated to consider and award such increments within a stipulated time frame.
