The Court declined to issue notice to the private respondents and disposed of the writ petition, directing the Thane Municipal Corporation to decide the petitioner’s representation and complaint within three months.
Summary
The petitioner, Tahseen Anjum Shafikullah Siddqui, filed a writ petition seeking multiple reliefs including a mandamus directing the State of Maharashtra, Thane Municipal Corporation and the Anti‑Corruption Bureau to launch an independent inquiry into alleged corruption and unauthorized constructions, registration of offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act, compensation for affected families, and police protection. The Court noted that some steps had been taken following a prior order but substantial encroachment remained. It declined to issue notice to the private respondents or keep the petition pending, directing the Thane Municipal Corporation to decide the petitioner’s representation and complaint within three months, subject to hearing of stakeholders. The Court disposed of the writ petition without addressing the merits, leaving all contentions open for future consideration.
