DISPOSED OFF

Holding

The Court held that it may direct the concerned authorities to forward the pending proposal within two weeks and to decide on it within twelve weeks, and disposed the petition with those directions.

Summary

Yuvraj Harchand Patil filed a writ petition seeking a direction that a proposal dated 25 October 2021, originally addressed by Respondent No.3 to Respondent No.2, be forwarded to Respondent No.1 (the State Government) for the regularisation of certain employees. The Court examined whether it could compel the administrative authorities to act on the pending proposal. It held that the High Court has the power to issue such directions in a writ proceeding. Accordingly, the Court ordered Respondent No.2 to forward the proposal, if still pending, within two weeks of receiving the order. It further directed Respondent No.1 to take a decision on the proposal within twelve weeks of receipt. The petition was disposed with these directions.
