Decided

Disposed Off

Holding

The Court held that it can issue a direction to the respondents to decide the petitioner’s representations within a specified time.

Summary

The petitioner, Arun Sakharam Dalavi, filed a writ petition seeking a court direction for the respondents (various government officials) to consider and decide on his representations dated 7, 16, and 29 January 2026 concerning alleged irregularities in the Gram Panchayat of Pandharun, Nashik, specifically the "Mutton Market Auction" held on 20 November 2025. The petitioner alleged that the respondent authorities had failed to investigate these irregularities, causing grievance. The Court examined whether the petitioner's grievance warranted a judicial direction to compel administrative action. Finding that the petitioner was indeed aggrieved by the inaction, the Court ordered the respondents to decide the representations within six weeks. The petition was disposed with the direction and no order as to costs.

Issues considered

  • The Court's jurisdiction to direct administrative authorities to act on pending representations.
  • Whether the petitioner’s grievance of inaction constitutes a ground for issuance of a writ.
