Summary

Petitioner Rahul Kishor Patil filed a writ petition fearing loss of his admission to an M.Tech program because he could not produce a Scheduled Tribe validity certificate, whereas a vigilance report had been accepted for his brother. He alleged inaction by the committee handling his case and sought judicial intervention. The respondents, represented by the State’s AGP, indicated that a hearing would be scheduled for 4 September 2026 with a judgment to be delivered by the following afternoon. The Court accepted this timetable and ordered the petition to be disposed of without further substantive examination. It also urged the committee members to act promptly and avoid any misconduct.
