Bombay High Court

SAYYAD MUSSAVIRALI SAYYAD QAMARALI AND OTHERSversusTHE STATE OF MAHARASHTRA THR THE SECRETARY AND OTHERS

Disposal
DISPOSED OFF

Holding

The petition is disposed of by directing the petitioners to approach the State Grievance Redressal Committee for a speedy decision.

Summary

The petitioners filed a writ petition after their appeal was rejected by the Appellate Grievance Redressal Committee. The High Court noted that a State Grievance Redressal Committee had been constituted by a government resolution dated 31 July 2026, which is the appropriate forum for the petitioners to prefer an appeal. The Court therefore disposed of the writ petition, granting the petitioners liberty to approach the newly constituted Committee. It further directed that the Committee decide the petitioners' appeal expeditiously. No substantive merits of the original grievance were examined by the Court.

Issues considered

  • Whether the High Court can dismiss the writ petition and direct the petitioners to approach the State Grievance Redressal Committee.
  • Whether the petitioners are entitled to liberty to approach the Committee and for the Committee to decide the appeal expeditiously.

Subjects

  • grievance redressal
  • writ petition
