SHIWAJI DAGADU CHAVAN AND OTHERSversusTHE STATE OF MAHARASHTRA THROUGH ITS SECRETARY AND OTHERS
- Disposal
- DISPOSED OFF
Holding
The Court records the SDO’s statement that a period of four months may be required for payment of compensation as an undertaking and disposes of the motion.
Summary
The petitioners filed a writ petition seeking compensation and moved a motion for ‘Speaking to the minutes’ to obtain a specific time‑frame for payment, citing a similar case (Writ Petition No.10742 of 2026) where the court ordered payment within three months. The Court asked the respondent’s AGP to clarify the period within which the compensation should be paid. The AGP produced a letter from the Sub‑divisional Officer stating that a period of four months may be required for payment. The Court recorded this statement as an undertaking to the Court. Consequently, the motion for ‘Speaking to the minutes’ was disposed of without further order. The decision reflects the Court’s acceptance of the administrative estimate as the operative timeline for the compensation.
