SILVER BELLS ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL THRU PRINCIPAL AND ORSversusTHE STATE OF MAHARASHTRA THRU SECRETARY AND ORS

Holding

The Court held that the combined writ petition should be withdrawn and separate petitions filed for each of the nine schools.

Summary

The petitioners, a group of nine English medium schools including Silver Bells English Medium School, filed a writ petition before the Bombay High Court challenging actions of the State of Maharashtra. The petition covered all nine schools in a single proceeding. The Court observed that because the petition involved multiple distinct schools, it was appropriate to have separate petitions for each. The petitioners' counsel sought leave to withdraw the combined petition and to file individual petitions for each school. The Court granted the leave, allowing the petition to be withdrawn and directing the filing of separate petitions. Consequently, the writ petition was disposed of as withdrawn.
