The Court allowed the writ petitions, granting a one‑month extension for thesis submission subject to each petitioner depositing Rs 1,00,000 within a week.
Summary
A group of petitioners, each seeking an extension for submitting their theses, filed writ petitions against Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University and its Vice‑Chancellor. The Court noted that the matter had already been addressed in its earlier order dated 20‑08‑2026 in Writ Petition No. 6661 of 2026. Relying on that precedent, the Court allowed the present writ petitions, directing each petitioner to deposit Rs 1,00,000 with the University within a week. Upon receipt of the deposit, the University was ordered to grant a one‑month extension for thesis submission. The order further stipulated that failure to submit the thesis within the extended period would result in automatic revocation of the relief. The judgment thus granted a conditional time‑extension to the petitioners.
Issues considered
- Whether the petitioners are entitled to an extension of time for submission of their theses
- Whether the condition of depositing Rs 1,00,000 is a valid prerequisite for granting the extension
Subjects
- thesis submission
