The petition is disposed with directions for the Zilla Parishad and the State to process the school’s reimbursement claim within the prescribed timelines.

Summary

The Bombay High Court heard a writ petition filed by Kids R Kids National English Medium School seeking reimbursement of fees paid for students admitted under the 25 % quota mandated by the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009. The petitioners had earlier submitted a claim to the Zilla Parishad, Pune, but the court directed them to file a fresh, properly formatted communication with supporting documents. The court then prescribed a detailed timetable for the Zilla Parishad to seek recommendations, for the State authorities to determine eligibility and quantum of reimbursement, and for the release of funds, with strict deadlines extending to 20 January 2027. If the school is found ineligible, the court ordered a reasoned order and allowed the school to pursue other legal remedies. The petition was disposed without any order as to costs.
