The court allowed the writ petitions and directed the university to grant a one‑month extension for thesis submission upon receipt of a Rs 1,00,000 deposit from each petitioner.
Summary
A group of students filed writ petitions against Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University seeking an extension to submit their theses. They contended that the university had not provided reasonable time and that they faced hardship in meeting the deadline. The High Court, referring to its earlier order in Writ Petition No.6661 of 2026, held that the university must grant a one‑month extension provided each petitioner deposits a security of Rs 1,00,000 within a week. The court warned that failure to submit the theses within the extended period would result in the order being revoked. Accordingly, the writ petitions were allowed and the order was made absolute.
Issues considered
- Whether the court can direct the university to grant an extension for thesis submission
- Whether a security deposit of Rs 1,00,000 can be imposed as a condition for the extension
- Whether the earlier order in Writ Petition No.6661 of 2026 governs the present petitions
