The Court allowed the writ petitions, directing the University to grant a one‑month extension for thesis submission upon each petitioner depositing Rs 1,00,000 within a week.
Summary
Several students filed writ petitions against Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University seeking an extension for submitting their theses. The Court noted that the matter was already covered by its earlier order in Writ Petition No.6661 of 2026. It allowed the petitions, conditioning the relief on each petitioner depositing Rs 1,00,000 with the University within a week. Upon receipt of the deposit, the University was directed to grant a one‑month extension for thesis submission. The order further stipulated that failure to submit within the extended period would result in automatic revocation of the order. The relief was made absolute and enforceable.
Issues considered
- Whether the Court can direct the University to extend the deadline for thesis submission.
- Whether a monetary deposit can be imposed as a condition for granting the extension.
- Whether the earlier order in Writ Petition No.6661 of 2026 governs the present petitions.
Subjects
- thesis submission
- extension of time
