The Court directed the State CET Cell to include the petitioner’s college in the seat matrix for the 2026‑27 CAP rounds and dismissed the prayer concerning the 2025‑26 academic year.
Summary
The petitioners, Deccan Education Society and an associated college, filed a writ petition alleging that they were omitted from the seat matrix issued by the State CET Cell for the ongoing CAP rounds. They sought a direction to grant affiliation for their BPT course for the academic year 2026‑27 and also requested continuation of affiliation for 2025‑26. The court noted that the request for 2025‑26 could not be entertained because the State had already issued a letter on 6 October 2026 confirming continuation of conditional affiliation for 2026‑27. Relying on this decision, the court directed the State CET Cell to include the petitioner’s college in the seat matrix for the 2026‑27 CAP rounds. The petition was disposed without any order as to costs. The parties were instructed to act upon the authenticated copy of the order.
Issues considered
- Whether the High Court should direct the State CET Cell to include the petitioner’s college in the seat matrix for the CAP rounds.
- Whether the prayer for continuation of affiliation for the academic year 2025‑26 survives in view of the State’s decision.
