The Court held that the State CET Cell must include the petitioner in the seat matrix in accordance with the State’s decision to continue the college’s conditional affiliation.
Summary
The petitioner, Bhagwanrao Bharane Pratishtan’s Vitthalrao Bharane College of Physiotherapy, filed a writ petition seeking inclusion in the seat matrix for the CAP admission rounds for the academic year 2026‑2027. The petition was filed on the ground of urgency after the college was omitted from the matrix issued by the State CET Cell. Respondent No.3, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, produced a letter dated 6 October 2026 indicating that the State had decided to grant continuation of conditional affiliation to the college for the said academic year. The Court held that the State’s decision obliges the State CET Cell to incorporate the college in the seat matrix so that it can participate in the ongoing CAP rounds. Accordingly, the Court directed the State CET Cell to include the petitioner in the seat matrix and disposed of the writ petition without any order as to costs.
Issues considered
- Whether the petitioner is entitled to be included in the seat matrix for the CAP admission rounds for the academic year 2026‑2027.
- Whether the State’s decision to grant continuation of conditional affiliation mandates the State CET Cell to modify the seat matrix accordingly.
