ZILLA PARISHAD SATARA THR ITS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND ANRversusVIJAY SURESH SHEDAGE AND ANR

Holding

The writ petitions were held to be infructuous and were disposed of.

Summary

The Zilla Parishad Satara, through its Chief Executive Officer, filed three writ petitions (Nos. 16617, 16618 and 16624 of 2023) before the Bombay High Court, Kolhapur Bench, challenging actions of various respondents. The petitioners later tendered the final judgment and order dated 31 January 2026 passed by the Industrial Court in each of the proceedings. The High Court examined whether the filing of the Industrial Court’s final orders rendered the writ petitions moot. It held that once a final adjudication is rendered by a competent forum, the pending writ petitions become infructuous. Consequently, the Court disposed of all three writ petitions. No substantive merits of the original disputes were addressed as the matters were already concluded by the Industrial Court.
