Summary

Rammanohar Bhagwandas Yadav filed a criminal writ petition seeking an order to expedite the trial of case C.C.No. 1944/PW/2018 pending before the Metropolitan Magistrate Railway Mobile Court, Andheri, which had been pending since 2018. The petitioner argued that the delay violated his right to a speedy trial. The High Court, after hearing counsel for both sides, found no substantive objection to directing a faster disposal. The Court allowed the petition and directed the magistrate to decide the case as early as possible, preferably within one year of the order. The writ petition was thereafter disposed.
