Holding

The Court held that the petition for expediting charge framing cannot be entertained because the FIRs were lodged prior to one year and this year only.

Summary

The petitioner, Hitesh Thadeshwar, filed a criminal writ petition seeking an order to expedite the framing of charges in connection with FIR No.04 of 2025 and FIR No.14/2026 registered at Azad Maidan, Mumbai, and to do so in a time‑bond manner. The petition was filed after the FIRs had been lodged for more than a year. The Court examined whether the relief sought could be granted given the lapse of time since the FIRs were registered. It held that the prayer could not be considered because the FIRs were lodged prior to one year and this year only. Consequently, the Court declined to grant the relief and disposed of the petition. All pending applications related to the matter were also disposed of.
