SUNIL RAHUL GHORPADEversusDR. BABASAHEB AMBEDKAR MARATHWADA UNIVERSITY THROUGH ITS REGISTRAR

Disposal
DISPOSED OFF

Holding

The petition is dismissed as the petitioner’s grievance has been redressed by the University’s willingness to admit him.

Summary

The petitioner, Sunil Rahul Ghorpade, filed a writ petition seeking a mandamus directing Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University to include him among the selected candidates for twelve vacant Ph.D. seats and to treat the vacancy as twenty‑seven seats as per the Research Guide List. The university, in its reply affidavit, stated that while most of its eleven management science guides were occupied, it was willing to accommodate the petitioner for the 2024 Ph.D. programme, effectively addressing his grievance. The petitioner’s counsel then submitted that the relief sought was no longer necessary as the university had agreed to admit him. The Court examined the submission and found that the petitioner’s demand was satisfied. Consequently, the Court disposed of the writ petition without issuing any writ of mandamus.
