RAMESH GOVINDRAO MALIversusTHE STATE OF MAHARASHTRA AND OTHERS

Disposal
DISPOSED OFF

Holding

The petition is disposed of, with liberty to the petitioner to approach the Anti‑Corruption Bureau for action against the inspector.

Summary

The petitioner, Ramesh Govindrao Mali, filed a criminal writ petition seeking relief against Police Inspector Ashok Ghorband, alleging accumulation of disproportionate assets. The petitioner argued that the inspector's transfer from Nanded District rendered his first two prayers moot and requested the court to direct action against the inspector for the alleged assets. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the appropriate forum for such action is the Anti‑Corruption Bureau of the concerned district. The Court held that, given the transfer, the first two prayers are indeed infructuous and directed the petitioner to approach the Anti‑Corruption Bureau for the third prayer. Consequently, the writ petition was disposed of, with liberty granted to the petitioner to initiate proceedings before the Anti‑Corruption Bureau.
