Holding
The Court directed the Education Officer to decide the petitioner’s case within four weeks of receipt of the order.
Summary
Petitioner Dhiraj Laxmikant Patil filed a writ petition against the State of Maharashtra after the Education Officer failed to act on a direction from the Divisional Grievance Redressal Committee (DGRC) dated 23 June 2025, which had set aside the officer’s earlier order and required a reconsideration within 15 days. The petitioner claimed that the officer’s inaction violated his right to a timely decision. The High Court noted the DGRC’s order and the officer’s failure to comply, and held that the officer must decide the petitioner's case promptly. Consequently, the Court disposed of the writ petition by directing the Education Officer to render a decision within four weeks of receiving the order. The order aims to enforce the statutory duty of the officer to act on the DGRC’s directive.
