Manish Ray @ Manish KumarversusThe State of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
BAIL GRANTED

Holding

Bail is granted to the petitioner.

Summary

Manish Ray, the petitioner, was arrested in connection with a case registered under multiple sections of the B.N.S., 2023 for allegedly assaulting a temple priest and a person named Satyam Roy. He contended that he was falsely implicated and that the injury to Satyam Roy was simple. The petitioner had been in custody since 19‑12‑2025. The court examined the nature of the injury and the length of custody and concluded that these factors warranted the grant of bail. Accordingly, the court ordered his release on bail upon furnishing a bond of Rs 10,000 with two sureties of the same amount, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the underlying criminal case.

Issues considered

  • Whether the petitioner is entitled to bail despite the serious nature of the offences alleged under the B.N.S., 2023
  • Whether the simple nature of the injury and the period of custody justify the grant of bail
