The court held that, in the interest of justice, the surrender period may be extended by four weeks.

Summary

The petitioner applied to the Patna High Court seeking modification of an earlier order dated 23-12-2025 that set a deadline for surrender in a criminal case pending before the Exclusive Special Judge Excise-I, Khagaria. The application pleaded that, for reasons set out in its paragraphs 5 and 6, the surrender period should be extended. The court considered the request in the interest of justice and found merit in the petitioner's contentions. Accordingly, the court extended the surrender deadline by four weeks from the date of the order. The earlier order was modified to reflect this extension and the modification application was disposed.
