BAIL GRANTED

Holding

The court granted bail to the petitioner.

Summary

The Patna High Court considered an application for regular bail filed by Jitendra Ram, who was accused of kidnapping and raping the daughter of an informant under sections 87, 70(a) and 3(5) of the Bihar Narcotic Substances Act, 2023. The petitioner had been in custody since 12 November 2025 and claimed a clean antecedent. The victim’s statement indicated that she had eloped with the petitioner, raising a question of consent. The court examined whether the circumstances justified granting bail despite the serious nature of the offences. Finding the victim’s elopement and the petitioner’s clean record relevant, the court allowed the bail application, directing release on a bond of Rs 10,000 with two sureties. The order was pronounced by Justice Sandeep Kumar.
