BAIL GRANTED

Holding

The Court granted bail to the petitioner subject to a cash bond and specific conditions.

Summary

The petitioner, Sanga Sanjeet @ Kanhaiya Kumar Badal, was arrested on 23 January 2026 in connection with a case of alleged theft and tampering of government records, as recorded in an FIR dated 8 January 2026. He faces charges under Sections 303(2), 221, 238, 318(4), 336(3), 338 and 351(2) of the B.N.S, 2023, and the prosecution claims CCTV footage links him to the offence. The petitioner contended that the FIR is fabricated, the CCTV footage was not examined, and he is innocent, seeking bail. The State opposed bail, highlighting the seriousness of the offences and the petitioner’s other pending cases. The Court, after considering the circumstances, granted bail on a bond of Rs.10,000 with two sureties, imposing conditions of cooperation, appearance, and non‑tampering with evidence. The order also directed that verification of the petitioner’s criminal antecedents should not delay the acceptance of bail.
