During the hearing, the petitioner's counsel requested permission to withdraw the anticipatory bail application, seeking instead to surrender and apply for regular bail. The court granted permission to withdraw, dismissing the anticipatory bail application as withdrawn. The court clarified that if the petitioner surrenders and seeks regular bail, the trial court must consider the regular bail application on its merits without prejudice arising from the withdrawn anticipatory bail. No substantive merits of the underlying criminal case were addressed.
