BAIL GRANTED

Holding

Bail was granted subject to a cash bond, two sureties and specific attendance conditions.

Summary

The petitioner, Aditya Anand, was charged under IPC sections 279 and 336, the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, 2022 (sections 30(a) and 41), and the Indian Electricity Act (section 139). He had seven prior cases, two under the Excise Act, and had been in custody since 2 June 2025. After a previous bail application was withdrawn, he renewed his prayer for regular bail. The State opposed bail citing the petitioner’s antecedents and risk of absconding, but the petitioner assured cooperation with the trial. The High Court granted bail on a bond of Rs.50,000 with two sureties, one of whom must be his father, and imposed conditions of monthly police‑station attendance and possible cancellation for non‑compliance or trial delay.
