Holding
Pre‑arrest bail was denied because the nature of the allegations and the petitioner’s antecedents did not justify its grant.
Summary
Petitioner Ranjan Paswan applied for pre‑arrest bail in connection with a case registered under Sections 30(a) and 30(c) of the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act. The High Court examined the nature of the allegations recorded in the FIR and the petitioner’s antecedents. The court found that the seriousness of the alleged offences and the petitioner’s background did not warrant the grant of bail before arrest. Consequently, the application for pre‑arrest bail was rejected. The order was delivered by Justice Purnendu Singh.
