Regular bail was denied.
Summary
Rohit Kumar applied for regular bail in a kidnapping case (PS Shankarpur Case No. 203 of 2024) under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The FIR alleges he abducted the informant’s daughter‑in‑law. The petitioner claimed innocence, a clean antecedent, and highlighted his prolonged custody since 11‑Nov‑2025. The State opposed bail, relying on the victim’s statement recorded under Section 183 of the BNSS. The Court, considering the seriousness of the allegations and the victim’s statement, rejected the bail application but directed the trial court to expedite the trial within a year.
Issues considered
- Whether regular bail should be granted to the accused in a kidnapping case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
