DISMISSED

Holding

The bail application was dismissed, and the petitioner was ordered to remain in custody.

Summary

Manjit Kumar was arrested in connection with a case registered under Section 308(5) of the B.N.S., 2023, alleging that he kidnapped the son of an informant and demanded extortion. The petitioner applied for bail, contending that he had been in custody since 25‑12‑2025. During the investigation, the court noted that an extortion call was traced to the petitioner’s mobile phone, indicating his involvement. The court considered the seriousness of the alleged kidnapping and extortion offences and the evidentiary material presented. Concluding that the nature of the allegations warranted continued detention, the court declined to grant bail. The order was limited to the bail application and did not address the merits of the underlying criminal case.
