Patna High Court

Ranjan Yadav @ Vasisth YadavversusThe State of Bihar

Decided

BAIL GRANTED

Holding

The Court granted bail to the petitioners subject to a bond of Rs 10,000, two sureties, and compliance with Section 482 of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.

Summary

The petitioners, four Yadav brothers, filed a bail application fearing arrest in a case registered under multiple sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to assault, rioting and other offences arising from a land dispute. They contended that the specific assault allegations were directed only at co‑accused Laxman Yadav and Ranjay Yadav, and that the charges against them were merely general. One of the petitioners has a prior criminal antecedent and is currently on bail, while the others claim clean records. The State opposed the bail on the ground of the seriousness of the offences. The Court, after considering the facts, ordered that the petitioners be released on bail if they are arrested or surrender within eight weeks, upon furnishing a bail bond of Rs 10,000 with two sureties each, subject to conditions under Section 482 of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. The order thus grants bail with specified safeguards.
