Decided
Disposal
BAIL REJECTED

Holding

The Court denied regular bail to the petitioner, finding the nature and gravity of the offences warrant continued custody.

Summary

Akhilesh Ram was arrested in connection with offences under Sections 61(2), 103(1), 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 27 of the Arms Act, alleged to have assaulted the informant's daughter and used recovered weapons. The petitioner applied for regular bail, claiming innocence and that he had been in custody since 26 May 2025 on mere suspicion. The State and the informant opposed bail, emphasizing the seriousness of the charges. The Court, considering the nature and gravity of the alleged offences, rejected the bail application. It also directed the trial court to expedite the trial and conclude it within one year of receiving the order.
