DISMISSED

Holding

Anticipatory bail was denied to the petitioner.

Summary

The petitioner, Lalan Rai, sought anticipatory bail fearing arrest in connection with a criminal case (No. 185 of 2025) alleging offences under several sections of the B.N.S., 2023, including assault with an iron rod causing grievous injury. He claimed innocence and a clean antecedent, while the prosecution contended that he brutally assaulted the victim. The court examined the seriousness of the alleged offences and the evidence of a grievous assault. Considering the gravity of the charges, the court was not inclined to grant anticipatory bail. Consequently, the petition for anticipatory bail was rejected, and the petitioner was directed to surrender within four weeks and apply for regular bail.
