Holding
The Court held that the case is to be disposed of as it has become infructuous.
Summary
The petitioner, Ranjit Kumar Singh, filed a petition in the Patna High Court seeking to quash the order dated 16‑04‑2018 of the Additional Sessions Judge, Patna, which had framed charges under Sections 341, 376, 511 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 66A of the Information Technology Act. The petitioner argued that the case had become infructuous and should be disposed of. The State of Bihar, represented by an Assistant Public Prosecutor, raised no objection to the petition. The Court, after hearing both counsels, accepted that the proceedings were indeed infructuous. Consequently, the Court ordered the case to be disposed of as infructuous, effectively dismissing the petition to quash the charge sheet.
