Patna High Court

Ranjit Roy @ Ranjeet RayversusThe State of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
REJECTED

Holding

Bail was denied as there was no fresh ground to revisit the earlier order rejecting bail.

Summary

Ranjit Roy was arrested in connection with the recovery of 602 kg of ganja from a truck, alleged to have violated Sections 8, 20(b)(ii) and (c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. He applied for bail before the Patna High Court, having previously been denied bail in Criminal Miscellaneous No. 13250 of 2024. The petitioner argued for release, but the court found no fresh material or changed circumstances to merit reconsideration. The court noted that the earlier order rejecting bail remained valid and that the seriousness of the offence involving a large quantity of narcotics warranted continued detention. Consequently, the bail application was rejected and the petition dismissed.
