Holding

The petition was disposed of on the ground that the matter had become infructuous.

Summary

The petitioners, Mansoor Ansari and Nandlal Chaudhary, filed a petition under Section 482 of the Criminal Procedure Code seeking to quash an order dated 31 May 2017 that had taken cognizance of offences under Sections 504, 506 of the IPC and Section 3(1)(r) of the SC/ST Act. The trial court had already disposed of the case on 22 September 2021, as indicated in a report dated 8 May 2026. The petitioners argued that the matter had become infructuous and should be dismissed. The State of Bihar raised no objection to the petitioners' request. The High Court, after hearing both sides, agreed that the case was infructuous and ordered the petition to be disposed of.
