Holding
The petition was disposed of as infructuous, and no order was quashed.
Summary
The petitioner filed a petition under Section 482 of the Criminal Procedure Code seeking to quash a Sessions Court order that stipulated automatic cancellation of bail bonds if 20% of the compensation amount was not deposited within 60 days. The order related to Complaint Case No. 125 of 2018. The Court learned that the complaint had already been disposed of by a Lok Adalat on 13 July 2024, rendering the petition moot. Both parties agreed that the matter had become infructuous. Accordingly, the High Court disposed of the petition, finding no need for further adjudication.
Issues considered
- Whether a petition under Section 482 CrPC to quash a bail bond cancellation order is maintainable when the underlying complaint has been disposed of.
- Whether the High Court should entertain the petition despite the case being adjudicated by a Lok Adalat.
