Decided
Disposal
BAIL GRANTED

Holding

Bail was granted to the petitioner subject to a bail bond of Rs. 10,000 and two sureties of equal amount.

Summary

The petitioner, Sonu Kumar, was arrested in connection with the death of a young man whose body was found in a ditch, and a case was registered under Section 103(1) of the B.N.S., 2023. The informant, father of the deceased, did not identify the petitioner as the assailant during witness testimony. The petitioner has been in custody since 20 September 2024 and a chargesheet has been filed. The State opposed the bail application, citing the seriousness of the accusation. The Court, after considering the nature of the accusation and the period of custody, ordered the petitioner’s release on bail upon furnishing a bail bond of Rs. 10,000 with two sureties of the same amount, subject to the satisfaction of the Chief Judicial Magistrate.
