Patna High Court

Vikram VishwasversusThe State of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
REJECTED

Holding

The court held that regular bail could not be granted to the petitioners.

Summary

The petitioners, Vikram Vishwas and Shahabul Sheikh, were arrested in connection with a seizure of 179.80 liters of codeine-based cough syrup, alleged to violate Sections 8(c), 21(c) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They applied for regular bail, claiming innocence and that they had been falsely implicated, and noted that they had been in custody since 18‑12‑2024. The court noted that an earlier bail application had been rejected on 05‑05‑2025 and found no fresh ground to revisit the matter. After considering the submissions and the seriousness of the offences under the NDPS Act, the judge declined to grant bail. Consequently, the petition for regular bail was dismissed.
