Patna High Court

Jhingan ManjhiversusThe State of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
REJECTED

Holding

The court held that regular bail cannot be granted as there are no fresh grounds to revisit the earlier decision.

Summary

The petitioner, Jhingan Manjhi, is in custody for offences under Sections 147, 148, 149, 307 and 302 of the Indian Penal Code arising from a case registered in Hisua Police Station, Nawada. He previously applied for regular bail, which was rejected by the Patna High Court in Criminal Miscellaneous No. 38041 of 2024. On 09-01-2026, he filed another bail application, arguing there were no fresh grounds to consider. The learned counsel for the State opposed the bail, and the court observed that the petitioner had not presented any new material or change in circumstances since the earlier rejection. Consequently, the court declined to grant regular bail, reiterating the earlier order.
