The Court directed the District Magistrate to verify the relevant government guidelines and decide within four weeks, thereby disposing of the writ petition.

Summary

The petitioners, Ramudugar Singh and Lalbahadur Shastri, filed a writ petition seeking a mandamus directing the State of Bihar and its officials to dispose of a representation they had submitted on 15 November 2024 concerning the proposed construction of a Panchayat Bhawan on land they claim belongs to them. They alleged that the authorities had taken no action on their representation and were proceeding with the construction without their consent. The petitioners prayed for an order directing the respondents not to take any action on the construction and for any other reliefs. The Court examined the petition and, noting the lack of response from the District Magistrate, directed the District Magistrate to verify the applicable government guidelines for identifying government land and to determine whether there was any violation in proceeding with the construction without the petitioners' consent. The District Magistrate was ordered to decide the matter in accordance with law within four weeks of receiving the order. Consequently, the writ petition was disposed of.
