Aditi SinhaversusThe State of Bihar

DISPOSED

Holding

The Court held that the petitioner must first make a fresh representation providing her father's details, after which the Board shall correct the documents.

Summary

Aditi Sinha filed a writ petition in the Patna High Court seeking a mandamus directing the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) to correct an error in her Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2025 admit card and result sheet, where her husband's name was mistakenly entered in the father's's name column. She claimed that despite having submitted a representation to the Examination Controller, no corrective action was taken. The Board contended that only the father's name should appear and that the petitioner must file a fresh representation providing her father's details. The Court held that the petitioner must submit a new representation within one week, referencing her earlier submission and furnishing proof of her father's name. Upon receipt, the Board was ordered to issue the corrected documents within two weeks, and the writ petition was disposed.

Issues considered

  • Whether the High Court can issue a mandamus directing the BSEB to correct the admit card and result sheet without a fresh representation from the petitioner.
  • Whether the petitioner is required to follow the Board's procedural requirement of providing her father's details before any correction can be made.

Subjects

  • mandamus
  • admit card correction
  • result sheet correction
  • STET 2025
  • Bihar School Examination Board
  • administrative procedure
