Patna High Court

Dr. Imteyaz AhmedversusThe State of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
CONSIGNED

Holding

Since the payment has been made and credited to the petitioner, the contempt petition is dismissed.

Summary

Dr. Imteyaz Ahmed filed a contempt petition against the State of Bihar and officials of Magadh University alleging non‑payment of amounts due to him. The University, through counsel Mr. Sunit Kumar, informed the Court that the disputed payments had been made and credited to the petitioner's account. The Court examined the submission and found that the payment had indeed been effected. Consequently, the Court held that there was no ground for contempt. The petition was therefore consigned, and the petitioner was advised to seek any further remedy if any payment remained unpaid.

Issues considered

  • Whether the petitioner's claim of non‑payment gives rise to contempt of court against the respondents
  • Whether the payment made by the University satisfies the petitioner's demand

Subjects

  • contempt of court
  • payment of dues
  • university
