Holding
The contempt petition is disposed of.
Summary
Shambhu Manjhi filed a contempt petition against the State of Bihar and the Principal Secretary, Dept. of Food and Consumer Supply. The court noted that the order under contempt had been complied with, as evidenced by Memo No. 4144 dated 14-10-2020 and the accompanying supplementary show‑cause notice. No response was filed to the supplementary show‑cause. Consequently, the court held that there was no ground to continue the contempt proceedings and disposed of the petition. The court, however, granted the petitioner liberty to approach the court again if he remains aggrieved.
Issues considered
- Whether the contempt petition should be dismissed due to compliance with the original order and lack of response to the supplementary show‑cause notice
