Holding

The Court disposed the petition, granting the petitioners liberty to seek an appropriate remedy against the letter, as the State had complied with the earlier order and raised no objection.

Summary

The petitioners, a group of residents from Saran district, filed a writ petition against the State of Bihar and several officials seeking relief concerning a letter (No.667 dated 25‑11‑2025) issued by the Deputy Collector Land Reforms, Sonpur. The State contended that the High Court’s earlier order had been complied with and that the letter had been issued in accordance with that order. The petitioners requested that the Court grant them liberty to pursue any appropriate remedy against the said letter. The State raised no objection to this request. The Court, noting the State’s compliance and lack of objection, disposed of the miscellaneous jurisdiction case, granting the petitioners the liberty they sought to take further action against the letter.

Issues considered

  • Whether the petitioners are entitled to liberty to approach an appropriate forum for remedy against the letter issued by the Deputy Collector Land Reforms.
  • Whether the case can be disposed after the State’s compliance with the earlier order and the absence of any objection.
