Decided
Disposal
CONSIGNED

Holding

The Court held that the order directing payment had been complied with and therefore consigned the contempt petition.

Summary

The petitioners, three individuals from Purnea, filed a contempt petition alleging that the Government of Bihar had not made the full payment of their General Provident Fund (GPF) as directed by the Court. They sought liberty to file a fresh representation for the release of the pending amount. The respondents, represented by officials of the State and legal counsel, filed a supplementary show‑cause indicating that the Court's order had been complied with. The Court examined the submissions and found that the payment order had indeed been fulfilled. Consequently, the Court consigned the contempt petition, allowing the petitioners to file a fresh representation if advised.
